How to use linking phrases naturally
Choose transitions that show a real relationship between ideas.
Original practice material · Draft: editorial review pending
Try it step by step
- Decide whether your next idea adds, contrasts or explains.
- Choose a connector that matches that relationship.
- Read the answer aloud and remove connectors that add no meaning.
Example to adapt
- The flat is small, but it is close to work. That saves me an hour each day.
Self-check
- Did I answer the actual question?
- Did I include a reason, detail or example where appropriate?
- What one thing will I try differently next time?
