How to practise without a speaking partner

Use a timer, speak aloud, and self-review with a checklist.

Practise nowA2-B2Practical advice · try it aloud

Original practice material · Draft: editorial review pending

Try it step by step

  • Choose a prompt and set a short timer.
  • Speak aloud once without reading a written answer.
  • Ask yourself whether the answer was direct and specific; repeat with one improvement.

Example to adapt

  • After describing your room, try again and explain why one object matters to you.

Self-check

  • Did I answer the actual question?
  • Did I include a reason, detail or example where appropriate?
  • What one thing will I try differently next time?
