How to describe a place vividly
Move from location to atmosphere, details and personal meaning.
Original practice material · Draft: editorial review pending
Try it step by step
- Locate the place so a listener can picture it.
- Choose two sensory details instead of naming everything there.
- Explain how you use the place or why it matters.
Example to adapt
- The café is beside the station. It smells of fresh bread, and I sit by the window while waiting for my train.
Self-check
- Did I answer the actual question?
- Did I include a reason, detail or example where appropriate?
- What one thing will I try differently next time?
